About Us

Hey folks! We're James and Aimée of Birch Glass.

Let's introduce ourselves, shall we?

Aimée:

Hi there! I'm Aimee. I've been a stained glass artist since early 2021 when a lovely friend of mine sent me a starter kit - Since then I've been totally hooked! Starting Birch Glass has been life changing for me in so many ways. I've been able to express my creativity in brand new ways that I never even thought possible!

My creative journey mostly started in the world of jewelry. I spent years as a jeweler, even pursuing formal education in jewelry fabrication and silversmithing at an art university. However, I often felt constrained, especially when it came to scale and bringing my intricate designs to life in precious metals.

Then, when I tried my hand at stained glass, it was so much fun and such a huge burst of inspiration. With stained glass, my creativity found a home and I could finally let my imagination run wild.

I love designing and making, I love to teach fellow artists and sharing this amazing craft with the world. I love to break the mold and create new ideas to inspire and captivate.

Working together with James on our glass art brings me so much joy and I'm so happy he's alongside me on our glass adventure. He's so eager to learn and has brought so much design inspiration, incredible craftsmanship, ideas, patience and laughs to our business days.

Our art is incredibly precious to us, a labor of love at every step of the process. We sincerely hope that you enjoy browsing through our creations as much as we delight in crafting them.

James:

Hello there, I'm James, or Jim if you prefer! and I'm honored to be part of Birch Glass alongside my wonderful wife. While I may not have a big passion for designing, I've discovered my own role and passion within our stained glass venture.

My role at Birch Glass is all about turning Aimée's designs into tangible art through a range of techniques. This includes crafting CAD models, 3D printing, as well as the hands-on work like cutting, grinding, foiling, and the finishing touches.

Outside of the studio, I'm a passionate motorbike enthusiast, both building and riding them. I've also explored wildlife photography, woodturning, and various other crafts over the years. Now, I'm thrilled to add creating glass art to the list—a new craft to sink my teeth into!

Behind the scenes, I quietly contribute to the quality of our art as well as our social media presence. I take pride in ensuring that each piece is not just visually appealing but also structurally sound, and built to last. In addition to the craft itself, I handle various aspects of our business to keep everything running smoothly. From managing supplies to day-to-day operations, my goal is to create a supportive environment for Aimée's creative brilliance to shine.

I hope you enjoy browsing what we have to offer, thank you for stopping by to learn a little about us.

Arnie the Greyhound But wait, there's more! Our studio isn't complete without our four-legged H.R representative, Arnie, a retired racing greyhound with a heart of gold and belly full of snacks. He's not much of a glass artist, but he's a master at napping and offering moral support. We both agree, he's the star of the show here. Scroll down to see his beautiful snoot!

Thank you for stopping by Birch Glass, we can't wait to share our passion for stained glass with you.
